MARANATHA POWER MINISTRIES INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S MINISTRY POLICY

THE CHILDREN’S MINISTRY (PROMISE LAND MINISTRY)

The Children’s Ministry is a department of the church that takes care of children from age one to nineteen years.

                                                       OUR GOALS

Train up the child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6).

  • To teach children basic principles from God’s word.
  • To build a firm life’s foundation on the teachings of Jesus Christ.
  • To teach them to stand on solid biblical grounds.
  • To walk with Jesus every day.
  • To fulfil God’s desire for them to be more like Jesus.

                                            STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The purpose of the Promise Land is to provide a safe environment for the children in which to advance the vision of the church which is Loving God, Loving People and Loving Missions. We are committed to placing children in a safe, loving and spiritually nourishing environment. The Promise Land Ministry is again committed to partnering with parents in shepherding young souls.

                                    CHILDREN’S MINISTRY STRUCTURE

The ministry is in five groups:

  • Glorious Kids: Covers ages one to four (1-4 years)
  • Rising Star: Covers age five to seven (5-7 years)
  • Kings and Queens: Covers ages eight to ten (8-10)
  • Sparks Class: Covers ages eleven to twelve(11-12 years)
  • CROSS ROADS: Covers ages thirteen to nineteen (13-19 years)

                            OVERALL CHILDREN’S MINISTRY PRINCIPLES

  • Begin with a mission statement; Answer the questions: “Why are we here?” “What are we trying to accomplish?”
  • Identify the target audience and adapt the curriculum and programming accordingly. Examine and evaluate all aspects of the program with the target audience in mind.
  • Establish goals and a strategy that will meet the needs of the target audience. Don’t just follow traditions. For example. Leaders within Promise Land know that children are our target audience. They also know that “FUN” is important to children.
  • Determine to do whatever it takes to present the programs with excellence.

CROSS ROADS – JUNIOR AND SENIOR HIGH MINISTRY

Statement of Purpose: The CROSS ROADS Express Junior and Senior High Ministry at Maranatha Power Ministries International exists for the purpose of teaching biblical truths, communicating the relevancy of these truths as they apply to Junior and Senior High student and demonstrating the love and understanding JESUS CHRIST has for them.

                                                         PHILOSOPHY

  • Junior and Senior High students matter to GOD. Junior and Senior High represents a transitional time in the life of a student. No longer a child but not yet a young adult, this is a time of new experiences, growth, opportunities and searching for answers to many critical questions, such as “Do I really matter to anyone?” Students are trying to sort through their own thoughts and feelings and discover their own identity. The Cross Roads Ministry team is committed to effectively ministering to Junior and senior high students by communicating to them that they are important to GOD.
  • The truths of Jesus Christ must be communicated in such a way that they are relevant to the life of a Junior and senior high student.
  • Biblical truths must be expressed in a contemporary manner. The Cross Roads Ministry team strives to reflect the junior and senior high culture in every aspect of the ministry. The overall presentation of the ministry event must be appealing to Junior and senior high students.
  • Small group involvement is critical to the emotional, physical, relational and spiritual will being of the Junior and Senior High student. Involvement in a small group gives Junior and Senior high students the chance to develop peer relationships that have the potential of becoming life-long friendships. Small group interaction also provides the students with the opportunity to become involved with an adult who respects them for who they are and who has a strong desire to understand the world from their perspective.

                                                                  STRATEGY

The members of the Cross Roads Ministry team seek to meet real needs by providing Junior and Senior High students with practical insight and direction on problems and issues that face students today.

The Cross Roads Ministry incorporates a four-fold strategy for ministering to the Junior and Senior High students.

EMOTIONAL NEEDS: Emotions play a large role in the life of Junior High and Senior High students.Confident, one minute and insecure, the next. Students need to feel there is a place where they would be accepted for who they are and where their emotional needs will be recognised and met.

PHYSICAL NEEDS: Junior high and senior high students are encountering many physical changes at this time in their lives. Maturing at different rates, these students have doubts about themselves and their ability to measure up to their peers. The Cross Roads Express Ministry team labour to create a positive experience for these students by providing an atmosphere that allows them to build their self-esteem and become more confident in themselves.

RELATIONAL NEEDS: Junior and Senior High Students need to be able to build relationships of integrity with one another. Team participation and small group involvement promote these types of friendships by providing an atmosphere of enthusiasm, openness, unity and lust.

SPIRITUAL NEEDS: The desire is to see each junior and Senior High student enter into a personal relationship with JESUS CHRIST and to develop that relationships. Junior and Senior High student are often just starting to question their beliefs. This inquisitiveness is healthy for the students and should not be taken lightly.

GENERAL EXPECTATIONS OF SUNDAY SCHOOL SHEPHERDS

v  That each worker serving in Family and Children’s Ministry is saved and growing in their sanctification so that he or she is a model of spiritual leadership.

v  That each worker is committed to the spiritual care and nurture, as well as the physical safety of each and every child entrusted to his or her care.

v  That each worker prays diligently and prepares faithfully for their Sunday, Wednesday and Friday services, beseeching the Lord for the fruit of his or her labours.

v  That each worker is committed to the overall goals and philosophy of all that we are seeking to accomplish by God’s grace.

v  That every volunteer worker or teacher must play a dual role, that is, he or she must close from adult service before going to teach the children and vice and versa.

v  That each volunteer worker or teacher arrives fifteen minutes before the service begins and demonstrates a willingness to be diligent in our ministry.

v  That each volunteer or teacher must be a member of Maranatha Power Ministries International.

v  That each volunteer or teacher is committed to the overall purposes of Maranatha Power Ministries International through faithful and regular attendance in our Sunday, Wednesday and Friday Church Services.

v  That each volunteer or teacher will wear their name tag so they can be easily recognised by parents and other volunteers.

v  That each worker exemplifiers a teachable and cooperative spirit with those in the classroom as well as the leadership of the church.

v  In accordance with the church leader’s policy, the head of the Family and Children Ministry shall be in office for term of two years, but may be considered for re-assignment for another term.

                          CHILDREN’S MINISTRY (PROMISE LAND MINISTRY)

                                                       HYGIENE POLICY

One of the most important steps in reducing the number of germs and the spread is through cleaning of surface that could possibly pose a health risk to children and adults. Hand washing is the most important single procedure to decrease the spread of diseases. All items, toys or teaching materials and surfaces will be cleaned and disinfected after each child’s use. A disinfect solution is provided for cleaning toys and all hard surfaces.

                                                        HAND WASHING

v  Volunteer workers and children will wash or sanitize their hands.

v  At the beginning of a session, prior to receiving children.

v  After using the rest room (Washroom) or assisting a child in the rest room (Washroom) after diapering, the hand is to be washed or sanitize.

v  After assisting a child with a runny nose or any bodily fluid.

v  Before food or snack preparation.

v  The volunteer worker or child will use antibacterial solution to wash their hand.

                             CLEANING THE CHILDREN’S MINISTRY AREA

v  All rooms in the children’s area will be cleaned, ready for use before each of the following sessions. Sunday morning, Wednesday evening, Friday evening and any Schedule Church event, using the children’s facilities.

v  At the end of teaching session, all surfaces will be disinfected, all cribs that were used will be disinfected and sheets changed.

                                          PLANS TO BE UTILISED

v  It is necessary that teachers do not sit in pair and chat while teaching is supposed to be in progress. Other teachers who are not teaching should be able to supervise the children and effectively organize them to ensure a calm comfortable lesson.

v  There should be a watch teacher who will be responsible for checking the incoming and outgoing of the children to prevent them from loitering about.

v  It is necessary that we all practise the DUAL ROLE where teachers are able to attend the main church service before they attend the children service. There should be two teachers or more in charge of the classes to be able to effectively utilise this factor.
